I’ve used a lot of tire sealants over the years, and most of them fall somewhere between “mildly effective yogurt” and “forbidden cottage cheese. ” SILCA sealant is the first one that actually made me stop carrying enough emergency gear to survive a week in the wilderness.
This stuff seals punctures fast, lasts forever, and somehow manages to avoid turning the inside of my tires into a science fair volcano. I hit a goathead the size of a medieval weapon, heard the dreaded psssssst, and before I could start emotionally preparing for a roadside repair, the tire sealed itself and carried on like nothing happened.
Bonus points for not smelling like a chemical warfare experiment every time I open the bottle.
Downside: now when my friends flat, I can’t dramatically save the ride by lending them a tube anymore. SILCA ruined my hero arc.
