Ms Stormshadow Parka

Ms Stormshadow Parka

One of our warmest parkas, the hooded Stormshadow Parka is waterproof and insulated with 700-fill-power 100% Recycled Down (a blend of duck and goose down and waterfowl feathers reclaimed from down products). The adjustable hood, cinchable waist and brushed tricot-lined pockets add warmth and comfort. Phone pockets inside the handwarmer pockets and a zippered chest pocket that’s accessed without unzipping the parka also help conserve heat. Built from premium 100% recycled GORE-TEX ePE face fabric, which is partially made from BIONIC® recycled coastal and marine plastic sourced in Costa Rica, the fabric, membrane and DWR finish are made without intentionally added PFAS. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Wanted to love it, but too loose around the neck

I have a ton of Patagonia gear, and i love it all. I love the company and everything they stand for. That's what prompted me to spend the money on this parka. Unfortunately, it has one huge problem that has me returning it for a refund. The neck area is simply too big and it lets in the cold. I am someone who likes to wear one heavy jacket and a t shirt underneath. With this parka, if you do not have the hood up, there is simply too much of a gap all around your neck and throat. So even if this coat is much warmer than others, it feels colder when the cold air so easily gets into the top of the jacket. With the hood up, it's toasty warm! but i don't want to wear the hood all the time! All of my other patagonia jackets, of which i have several, do a much better job of hugging my neck to keep the cold out so this one feels like the odd duck out to me. I'm 5'8", 165 lbs. i wear a medium in everything from patagonia. I don't think it's a sizing issue (the rest of the jacket feels spot on and from the pictures on here it does seem like this is the intended design). Maybe it's just a quirky size thing for me, since nobody else in the reviews here really talks about it.

Tight sizing

Jacket feels sturdy and warm for heavy duty winter wear but sizing is tighter in the chest and shoulders than normal for Patagonia jackets which is disappointing.

Great jacket, but with a fatal flaw

It's a very nice jacket. However, down feathers start coming out as soon as you start wearing it. I exchanged it for the same jacket. Still same issue. I have other insulated Patagonia jackets that I've had for years, and there is no feather loss. My wife has the women's version of this jacket, and she experiences no feather loss. There appears to be something wrong with this particular model. It's too bad.
