I went with the OBOZ
I went with the OBOZ Sawtooth mids after my long term previous brand became progressively less durable and warm after a series of manufacturer consolidations and my next choice, while comfortable, simply fell apart after six months of regular hiking (week night and weekend days) use in a cold and slightly longer Michigan winter including autumn rain and puddles.
I had previously purchased OBOZ hiking shoes and was impressed with-the fit and comfort out of the box, lighter weight, larger toe box, heel support, foot support and overall experience of both feet almost floating. I also liked the shoe laces. I have had the same experience with the OBOZ boots. Specifically, the tread is very strong and supportive, while also light. The boots were slightly stiff out of the box but were well worn in after one five mile hike and regular wearing after one weekend. The OBOZ shoes have worn well and remain comfortable and durable, and I expect the same for the boots. Overall, I have a reasonable a good tradeoff for the price and expect at least a year or more of regular use and I think OBOZ is going to deliver.
