Old World Meets New
I have been a student of History since I was a boy and I was always amazed at the mysterious and beautiful artwork created by those elusive artists who lived during the time of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Thirteen years ago, I discovered Rublev paints and pigments from Natural Pigments, and I knew I had discovered something unique and extremely valuable to and for my artwork. Seeing and reading all of the information that was offered on their website invigorated my desire to take a real and deep look into my artwork and how I could return and achieve those techniques and colors into my paintings. For a few decades I was a full time artist working with the Studios, and galleries around the Planet. My efforts were simply focused on watercolor, gouache and acrylic, and making sure my artwork was of the highest quality and on time. But leaving the Studios, I wanted to return to the world of Oil painting and not just buy tubes of high quality paint as most of us have in the past, but learn the history of each pigment and how they were applied during the time of the Renaissance. Finding Rublev Paints and Natural Pigments inspired my desire to learn about each pigment, where it was from and to grind my own pigments into oil paints that was achieved hundreds of years ago. And so, for the last 13 years I have continued to use Natural Pigments and Rublev paints. I discovered how long grinding lead white in Walnut Oil should sit or rest before applying it onto my supports. I will continue to read the vital information that is offered at the Natural Pigments website and their products so as to continue to reach back into the old world and bring it into the New World.
