Great paints, but you need to get used to them.
I bought the whole Mars gang in oil paints as it is offered by Natural Pigments under their Rublev colours brand, that is: Mars Yellow, Mars Red Light, Mars Red, Mars Brown and Mars Crimson. When buying Rublev one should know that the paints are just pigment and linseed oil, no additives whatsoever. That means that the paint as it comes out of the tube may need the addition of a droplet of linseed oil in the palette, as is the case for my Mars Red Light. Rublev colours take some time to get used to. I bought these colours because the lightfastness of the pigments is the highest and they are the base of most of my paintings; if I can solve a colour using only Mars hues, I do. Mars Yellow is exactly what I expected from it, a replacement for yellow ochre. The tinting strength of Mars Red Light and Mars Red is explosively high, so one should be careful. I like it that Red Light is redder than the usual Venetian Red one finds in other paint brands. I am really loving my Mars Brown, I always wanted a brown that is opaque. I wish Rublev could offer Mars Black as well. The Mars Crimson is what other lines call Mars Violet. I liked the colours greatly and I think I will buy again when these tubes are gone.
