Oil paint at its best
At this point, I have tried every type of paint from almost every major brand of artist grade and premium grade lines… from winsor and Newton to Williamsburg to Michael Harding… the Rublev paints are hands down my favorite. They are vibrant, highly pigmented and offer the unique characteristics of each pigment in linseed oil, most of them being long and ropy while retaining texture and body. This property, thanks to the decision not to make the paint with any additives or extenders, makes painting without mediums completely possible and pleasant to do. At most, a couple drops of oil to loosen up the paint for glazes and scumbles… otherwise, this is the only brand I can reliably go from tube to brush to canvas with.
Oh, and amazing selection of dry pigments and colors that many other companies do not have - for those of you into grinding your own oil paints!
