I'm ambivalent about Smalti. True, it's wonderful to have the color all the way through, unlike ceramic tiles; but they are so thick that putting them with any other tessarae creates an uneven surface. Not a problem when it's a piece of art to hang on a wall; but if it's a table top, you can't set a glass on it safely. 'Twould be nice if I could get regulation widths.
