Four stars because the emphasis
Four stars because the emphasis on the Marriage Helper program is to be a confident and loving person, and to build that within yourself. It will allow you to cope with your marriage crisis better and be more available to your spouse.
I like the personal accountability.
A criticism I have is that the YouTube videos refer to the Marriage Helper weekend a LOT and describe what will take place there. As the program has evolved, there are several things that will no longer take place there, and it’s from these statements (that are no longer true) on YouTube that I made the decision to purchase. And it is a big purchase!
For example: Joe Beam will not lead the course or be there. You will not develop a plan on that Sunday to create STOPS, which is something I needed help with. The Valley was not discussed, which in our case was a big reason I came. You will not discuss your situation with anyone and receive recommendations for further support. You will not have discussions with your spouse and others at the breakout sessions, but will only speak to the group. That final piece was important because I had a lot of questions that I didn’t want to ask publicly or they would have implicated my spouse as having an affair to the whole group. I think my husband also had a lot of questions and didn’t want to throw me under the bus by asking, either. Perhaps anonymous questions should be employed? I also think that, for the money, it would be valuable to have couples experience a 20 minute coaching session AT the weekend seminar. This would allow the more reluctant spouse to see what this is all about and see that it is a safe environment along with more personal questions answered.
So again, 4 out of 5 stars! Excellent info! But please delete obsolete info off YouTube.
