I’m interested in Islay whiskies and smoky drams in general. That’s why I have got the three Corsair’s expressions available here. And Wildfire was the best of them. Although it’s a malt whiskey it tastes too much like a bourbon with vanilla and caramel notes. One can tell it’s a young dram as among the medium spiciness there’s an alcoholic kick… almost metallic… not too well balanced. The smokiness… it’s there but I’ve guessed that there would be more of it. There’s also some sourness on the palate and if you play with your imagination a bit you may get to the barbecue sauce taste that some people talk about. It’s a fun whiskey and I do not regret I got it but I expected more boldness.

Peu de caractère, peu de longueur... Une déception certaine. Mais il plait énormément à ma femme. Un rhum pour amateurs de douceurs.
