Almost perfect, with one important issue to note
As the title states, this mattress is almost perfect. The pillow topper is super luxurious and comfy, and the lumbar support works wonderfully. . . when my hips are actually over it. If my hips aren't over the lumbar support zoned springs, they sink too far in and my whole back is painful when I wake up from essentially lying in a backbend position for hours.
So here's the deal with the lumbar support section, it's not in the middle of the mattress as the graphic mockup of the layers on the website suggests. It's actually closer to the end of the mattress that has the stripes on it. Or at least on my mattress it is, you can find it easily by sitting in different parts of the bed, the lumbar zone is noticeably more firm.
The website also says it doesn't matter which way the mattress goes and it is designed to be turned every 6 months. However, if I have the end of the mattress with the stripes on it at the foot of the bed, the lumbar support is so far down that I have to have my feet all the way at the end of the bed, and I'm only 5'4", so a taller person would have to have their tootsies dangling in the air to have their tush over the lumbar support springs with the mattress facing that direction.
This design issue could be easily fixed by making the lumbar support zone wider (or taller I guess). It's only about a foot wide, so I have to intentionally line myself up with it to avoid the backbend-sinking-hips scenario. If it were wider, you'd be able to turn the mattress without issue, and wouldn't have to line yourself up with it to make sure your spine is supported.
When I sleep in the right spot, this really is a great mattress, and I am hoping with more time I'll adjust to lining my hips up automatically, because it's truly so comfortable when I'm in the right place! I suppose I should add that I'm primarily a side sleeper, but I do change positions a lot.
