I bought the pack for weekend trips, where I can fly and put the pack under the seat in the cabin. I think only the 26L is allowed, because when it's expanded it gets pretty big! Super handy to have both options, and you can try your luck with the airlines. I end up using the bag for all purposes, for going around the city, etc. So far it's been great. Highly recommend.
