I’ve ordered from Colorblends for years. My experience with their bulbs has been excellent to date. The bulbs I bought were an impressive size and bloomed beautifully. As a master gardener living in a heavily deer populated state now, I omit tulips but suggest that tulip lovers only plant right next to stairs into your home where human (and dog scent if you have one) discourage them from eating. I also mix big boxes of onion powder, garlic powder and the hottest pepper powder together and scatter around growing tulips in spring to deter animals. Repeat after rain. So far it’s worked! Everyone hates to see blooms crunched off the end just as they’re about to bloom or whole tulips ripped out.

I have been buying bulbs from various catalogs (now finalizing on the internet) for 30 years, I would guess. When they start coming in the mail, I love looking through the pages and fall in love with so many blooms that it's hard to choose which ones to order. I love that there are so many varieties! In the end, I buy as much as I can plant given the time and body available to me. The bulbs from K. van B have always come through, and I get rave reviews from neighbors and family alike. I buy mostly tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and ranunculus. I live in Zone 9, they say. I refrigerate them when they arrive despite being advertised as "ready to plant" in my zone. It doesn't get that cold here, and I want to be sure as some bulbs years ago didn't do well without chilling. I do wish the bulbs arrived sooner, TBH, so I wasn't still planting after Thanksgiving when it's muddy out there. Maybe I'm being overly cautious.
