Misdiagnosed
Went to DOC the first time and was given drops, antibiotics, a steroid shot, and was diagnosed with swimmers ear - no change. The second time (2 days later) I was told I had a middle ear infection and severe scar tissue and was told not to fly, they also wanted me to get a second steroid shot, which I declined. I went ahead and flew and had no issues other than some mild popping in my ears. When I got home I went to an ENT and was told I did not have an infection at all, nor did I have scarring I had severe inflammation due to a blocked Eustachian tube. I was given a a 10 day oral prescription of prednisone combined with flonase and it eventually cleared up. This is why the drops and antibiotics weren't effective. Both times I was at DOC it felt rushed and feel not enough time was given to make the appropriate diagnosis.
