Unprofessional/Lacks Accountability
I found Ben to be incredibly unprofessional and just overall unpleasant. I was currently out of state in Arizona and ordered a decent bottle of wine (Opus One 2010) as I failed to bring along with me a bottle of my Harlan Estates I’ve been saving for my 10 year anniversary.
Phoenix was hot. I received the bottle via FedEx which I said I needed at a certain time for my anniversary so I had asked for it to be shipped quicker than his standard shipping. Received the bottle and it leaked during transit.
Two possible reasons 1) It was so hot it leaked during transit and HE failed to ensure the bottle would not get cooked 2) the bottle was sat upright during storage and dried the cork, and perhaps FedEx delivered the bottle upside down as the box failed to mention to to keep
This side up, etc.
Either scenario Ben selected his 3rd party to use to transit the bottle to me making him, the seller, responsible for the product until I received it. I was refused a full refund. I had to negotiate with him on the flawed bottle he sent me. No matter what I was not paying full price as the label was leaked on and damaged. I basically said sure I’ll drink it and based on if it’s cooked or not I’ll pay a certain %. Being honest the bottle wasn’t horrible, but not where it should be as it reminded me of a Rombauer Zinfandel as it was a bit sweet. So I did pay sans the label damage.
At the end of the day him blaming me for requesting a bottle be shipped to me in “hot” Arizona is absolutely disgusting. Take accountability, and hopefully you will stop blaming your customers for your lack of attention to detail in your shipping methods.
