I purchased four tins of matcha during a sale and was surprised to find that all four were set to expire the following month. At no point before purchase was I informed that products could arrive with as little as 30 days of remaining shelf life.
What made this experience particularly frustrating was customer service’s response. Rather than acknowledging the lack of transparency, I was told that I should have checked the shelf life before purchasing, despite that information not being available to customers prior to placing an order.
The company refused to offer any refund, replacement, store credit, or goodwill accommodation, insisting that shipping products with only a month of shelf life remaining is standard practice. Had this been clearly disclosed, I would not have purchased multiple tins.
Customers deserve the information necessary to make informed purchasing decisions. Unfortunately, this company appears more interested in hiding behind policy than standing behind the customer experience.
