The Amok Draumr is a

The Amok Draumr is a masterclass in design, easily earning the title of the most comfortable hammock I have ever owned. I have slept in it almost every night since I received it, and I actually prefer it to my own bed; it is one of the most comfortable sleeping surfaces I have ever used. Having dealt with neck and back pain, as well as a torn shoulder tendon, the support this provides is a game changer—for the most part, I do not wake up at all when using it. Whether you are reclining in chair mode to take in the scenery or laying completely flat for a night’s sleep, the comfort is unmatched. The craftsmanship is excellent, featuring durable materials and a fit and finish that show true attention to detail—plus, the green color is fantastic. Having tested a multitude of other hammocks in my home—including my previous favorite, the War Bonnet Ridge Runner (both with and without a bug net), I can confidently say that the Draumr is superior in every way. Pros Ultimate Comfort: Unrivaled support in both sleep and chair modes; this is the most comfortable hammock I have used. Smart Storage: Comes with plenty of pockets to keep your essentials organized. Build Quality: High-quality materials and superior sewing, fit, and finish. Aesthetic: The green color looks great in the woods. System Versatility: Works exceptionally well, especially when paired with my warmest sleeping pad, the Rab Hypersphere 9. 5. When I'm testing in my room, I’ve also found that a Therm-a-Rest Camp Rest (older model) paired with a 1. 5-inch piece of flotation foam works surprisingly well—about 95% as effective as a dedicated pad. Cons Price: The investment is on the higher side, but overall it is worth it. Potential Improvements and Minor Nitpicking. . . Suspension Weight: The included straps are bulky and heavier than necessary; I would much prefer lighter, more compact whoopie slings. Pocket Design: The two hip pockets are frustrating because items fall out easily. Sewing the top 75% of the length and leaving a diagonal opening near the head end would be a much more secure design. Stuff Sack Placement: When connected, the stuff sack sits too low, blocking the pocket underneath it. It should be positioned higher. Valve Access: The design lacks a center valve opening in the head portion, which is inconvenient for sleeping pads that have center-located valves. Pillow Security: Addition of a dedicated pillow pocket or a method to secure a pillow to prevent it from shifting. Quilt Integration: A perimeter zipper around the pad area would allow for zipping on top quilts, ensuring they stay in place and eliminating drafts during winter use. I realize this would add cost, weight, and bulk to the system, so I am not sure if it would be worthwhile for the company, but it is certainly a feature I would appreciate and will potentially implement on my own after the warranty is up. Shipping to Canada was relatively fast. I am so glad that the CETA trade agreement between Canada and the EU is in place; it gives me great alternatives to American products when I can't find the specific Canadian-made gear or kit I need.

When my Gen 1 pad

When my Gen 1 pad started leaking at the valve seal, all info pointed to a new pad. The team at Amok was responsive at trying to help see if my old pad was still under warranty (sadly it was not) and shipped it out quickly. I was worried because I had a canoe trip coming up less than a week away. When I reached out to share my concerns they assured me that 3-5 days was all it would take. The new pad arrived in 3 days and is perfect! If possible, it fits better than my old pad and is as warm or warmer. Thanks to Amok for being one of the good guys. A company that not only makes absolutely stellar kit but holds themselves to a high level of integrity. In this day and and age it is such a rare quality. P. S. To further prove their worth, a buckle broke on my Draumr 4. 0 while I was on the aforementioned canoe trip. Amok has sent me replacement parts including spares at no cost and just as quickly. They will arrive before my next planned trip 🙏🏽 thanks again Amok. I’d give you six stars if I could.
