I swapped the stock Narrowfields in my PRS SE NF3 for a full set of Little '78s, and honestly I wasn't sure what to expect. The Narrowfields aren't bad pickups, I just wanted something with more push. These things woke the guitar up. Cleans are still clear, but there's a warmth and punch now that the stock pickups never had. Kick on some gain and you get that late-'70s rock thing — sustain for days, harmonics jumping out without having to fight for them. They'll push an amp, but they're not high-gain monsters. You can still play with your fingers and your volume knob and they respond. What surprised me most was positions 2 and 4. Usually when you drop rail humbuckers into a Strat-style setup, those in-between positions turn thin and useless. Not here. All three pickups sit at about the same volume and the quack positions still sound like something you'd actually use. I've played everything through them at this point fingerstyle stuff, blues, classic rock, worship sets on Sunday, even some heavier material. . . and they never feel out of their lane. People buy these expecting an EVH-in-a-box, and they'll do that, but that's not all they do. Warm, articulate, responsive. Might be the best single-coil-sized humbuckers Duncan makes. Easy recommendation.
