I was thrilled to see this piece marked down closer to a price I could afford, and I jumped on a restock alert in my email to finally buy such a cool design. When it arrived, the box was just willy nilly in a plastic mailer, with no cushioning and so my experience began rather lackluster. When I opened the inner box, I was happy to see the detail on the piece with each barbed wire section, but it’s really not great quality for the price point, even on sale. Each barbed wire section functions like a chain link, but with each link being soldered and no jump rings or anything between each section and such small, small loops on either end, the necklace frequently buckles and tangles on itself and takes very little body movement to disrupt when worn. It was also WAY, way, way short even for a choker, so I ended up doing some surgery and adding my own chain on either end of the barbed wire design to make this necklace wearable. Each “chain” is also not super shiny, and it looks dull as if it was not completely finished to a shine as if a chemical near the soldered ends was not completely cleaned off the rhodium plating. I also think the necklace looks quite different than the listing photos, as the links are smaller, soldered, textured, and quite flat on the real necklace, while the photos show an elegant twist between each link to hold it together. All in all, the necklace I received feels like a cheap imitation of the photos that sold me on my purchase. It’s not the worst piece I’ve ever bought sight unseen, but I won’t be purchasing from this brand again. The packaging was less than ideal, the photos vs the real necklace do not quite align, and I had to resolve my dissatisfaction with this piece by making my own adaptations to make it wearable. Cool design in theory, but purchase it elsewhere!
