The 'Bunionator' Kicks......Bunions
My wife appears to have inherited Bunions on both of her feet from her Dad's side of the family. She also has acquired a taste for very nice, attractive and stylish shoes, booties, and boots, most of which are not designed to accommodate the annoying -- and often painful -- bony foot outgrowths. When wearing most of her footwear out on the town, she was lucky if she could make it two hours without throwing in the towel. With some of her higher-heeled shoes, her tolerance was much less. Her doctors didn't give her much hope as their primary cure consisted of painful and sidelining surgery, which would not have worked well with my wife's yoga-centric and active lifestyle. In a last-ditch effort to find some sort of solution, I searched the internet and found FootFitter. What a well-designed and cool website! Anyway, after looking over their product line, I came across their 'Ball and Ring Cast Iron Bunion Stretcher.' I showed my wife the product and within 5 minutes, we had placed our order. When the device arrived (quickly, I might add), we were very impressed with it's simple, brilliant, and heavy design, and we thought that its sturdy, black appearance hearkened back to the good old days before plastic and cheap metal became commonplace. In any case, we properly aligned and tightened the device on both the left and right foot of a pair of her favorite booties, and let the apparatus sit for 2-3 days on each shoe. We are happy to report that the adjustable ball-and-ring device worked like a charm and perfectly stretched the shoes to accommodate the bunions on both feet with no tightness whatsoever. My wife wore the stretched booties last weekend for several hours and had no issues. Because we're not sure if the stretches 'will hold' (in other words, be temporary or permanent), we thought that we had better stretch them again for the next time. I would assume that the shoe material (i.e., leather vs. synthetic) may determine whether the shape will hold or not, but we will have to keep experimenting to find out. The bottom line is: The FootFitter Ball and Ring Cast Iron Bunion Stretcher DOES WORK at relieving the pain and discomfort often caused by tight shoes and large bunions. Do note, though, that because of the product's design, it will work on low-top shoes and low-top booties and those with zippers, but will not work with high-top boots. Thanks FootFitter, for saving my wife's feet (and some very expensive footwear!!) Butch
