I just wanted a gate for our makeshift deer fence
When we moved to this hillside in the PNW I decided to put deer netting around the gardens by sinking corner poles, stringing aircraft cable and clipping net to it. It was simple, inexpensive, but not very convenient. We'd unclip one end of the netting and slide it open like a shower curtain. Most of the net was pinned down with weed cloth staples, but where we entered we'd weight the bottom of the net and drag it back and forth.
Then I saw what I thought was a reasonably priced gate from DeerBusters & came up with a new, (& foolish) plan. I bought the gate kit and much better heavy duty netting. I figured that the heavy netting would need bigger poles since the heavy net would require me to use 1/8" aircraft cable & keeping it taught would put a lot of force on those poles. Turns out that was silly. I was pleased to learn that lightweight fence pipes matching the gate is available and could just be pounded into the ground rather than being set in concrete. Because I had already installed the bigger wood poles I made use of them
