My complements to the company for a great Eames replica and their support. I really like the chair - it’s comfortable, has good materials and workmanship for the money, and assembles easily. I received the chair in a very strong cardboard ‘crate’. Everything was great except that the ottoman post had a large scratch and the chair base had some oxidation at the top. I contacted support and they sent me a replacement post and polishing compound for the chair base. No questions asked. As far as I can tell this replica has the same dimensions as the original Eames Lounge Chair. Some reviewers complained that the ‘head rest’ was too low, so be aware that the chair wasn’t designed by the Eames’ to have a head rest. Instead, the top cushion was meant to support the shoulders and the top of that cushion is meant to cradle the neck when the head is leaned back. Regarding size, I’m 5’9’ and debated getting the tall size based on some reviews. I ended up buying the regular size when I discovered that the tall chair had 2” more seat depth. I went to Design Within Reach and sat in the authentic regular and tall sizes and found that the additional seat length in the tall made it uncomfortable for me to sit in the chair with my feet resting on the floor. If you only ever sit with your legs up this won’t be an issue but I sometimes like to sit with feet in the floor. One thing I never liked about the original Eames chair is the fixed 15 degree tilt. I own an original 1960’s Plycraft chair “in the style of Eames” and love that it has a variable tilt mechanism. I was able to buy a new replacement base for Plycraft Eames-like chairs and ‘hacked’ my new Eames replica chair by adapting the fixed base with the tilting mechanism. So for less than $200 my Eames replica tilts/rocks smoothly from 3 to 20 degrees and I didn’t have to alter the Eames replica, except to remove the chair base and legs( so it looks different in the photo as it’s not reclining).
