Faulty Drill Bit Caused a Huge Headache
I was sent a faulty drill bit in the drill/bit combo package that took way too long to drill the holes in the concrete. Also due to the extra muscle and time it took to drill the holes with the faulty bit, it drifted as I was drilling one of the holes for the gate. It’s about 1/2” off the spot it’s supposed to be, which makes the gate unable to self close. I will have to bore out the sleeve, refill with concrete, and redrill it in the proper place.
The holes initially were too small for the sleeves and poles, but I was able to bore the hole out with the faulty. However I ended up breaking a bunch of sleeves and 2 poles in the process of discovering this issue.
When calling customer service after I was about 1/4 through my install they apologized for explained the issue and told me they were over-nighting 2 poles and a drill bit, but I have not received them as of 4 days later
If I did it again, I would avoid buying the drill/bit kit, buy own drill bit, and rent a rotary drill from my local hardware store. This could have been a relatively easy process, but was a headache due to my issues.
