I had no problems with the shutters installation but the instruction are not very practical. There's no way I could hold a drilled shutter in place and mark the holes ! They would never line up. What I finally did, was very satisfactorily. I drilled a 1/4 inch hole thru the 5/16th hole into the house on the bottom right or left hole while holding the shutter in place. Then I secured the shutter with the plastic pin. Once secured I worked my way up drilling one at a time. very easy and a lot less complicated.

I purchased unpainted ext shutters. They & instructions were perfect. The fact that I don't have to worry about them rotting ever again is another plus. I purchased metal screws for my installation.
