Concrete conter top for outdoor kitchen / grill
A friend turned us onto Z Counter form. I watched the instructional videos and placed my first concrete top a couple of weekends back. I purchased almost everything from Z Counter Top (Z forms, fiber mesh, Liqui Crete, Stain, Gloss and tools). Two areas I needed help with;
1) Do I use Stain (much more vivid colors) or dye the concrete? I talked with a service rep and found out that if I wanted to put glass chips into the counter top I would needed to polish and could only use the dye. If I wanted a more vivid color the stains offer then you do not polish the top in fact you should only use up to 200 sandpaper grit before staining because it you polish the top stains will not work.
2) Placement of the first batch of concrete we mixed up with the liquid crete. We did not put enough water (we put in the recommended amount of water) but not enough to have the concrete flow as we had seen in the videos. Subsequent batches of concrete mix got better each time.
We are very impressed with the company; customer service and the project came out great.
