You can tell the air is better. It was really helpful when family was over because two of them have allergies and they didn't have issues with our pets after we got this. Made the visit more enjoyable for everyone. You can hear it but it is about the same as a regular fan so it isn't annoying. It is easy to lift and move. It is a bit bigger that I was thinking which isn't a problem I was just surprised. Overall very happy with purchase.

The filter works on cigarette smoke. I run 24/7 for a month and not noisy. My son who is a non-smoker came over and said he smells nothing.
