Going to the mattresses (The Godfather)
...ok, I wasn’t planning to go to war! But as I started my journey to find a new mattress, I was quickly under siege by the numerous sales people at the big name mattress stores. Each had their version of the truth. Each had their approach. Each had their process.
Our goal was to purchase a mattress to meet our needs of comfort, restful sleep, and rejuvenation post sleep.
My first stop was a local store that advertises on every media chanel with a slogan of beating everyone’s price or my mattress is freeeeeeeee. — Summary: My wife and I were greeted by a very accomplished Sales Manager who ushered us to an adjustable bed and assessed our ability to purchase versus our need. The conversation was focused on price. If I’m going to spend -12k for a mattress and adjustable base, I needed to understand the benefit and other associated costs. My internet searching revealed many of the half-truths I heard from this store.
The second store was the same company, but another location. We were committed to purchase from this very well established chain, given their apparent success. We felt the secondary location may have more knowledgeable representatives and provide a better experience. — Summary: the salesperson directed us to the adjustable mattresses and imparted her knowledge. She was clearly uninformed on the product and created such fictitious information that I requested help from her manager. By the third time we were provided innacurate information, all with a kind a seemingly honest delivery, we left the store. There was more, but it’ll take away from our review.
...the clouds parted, the road was clear, and we accidentally drove by Ortho and met Cris Meeker.
Ortho was not the big mattress advertiser or nearly as well known as the big mattress stores, which clearly invest in the selling versus determining need.
Cris is amazing!
Cris focused on our needs and helped direct us to the perfect bed. We ended up with the Tempuroedic with an adjustable base and head tilt.
Cris shared the price, but only after assessing our needs, and directing us to the correct product. She also wanted us to know the “additional” considerations. Transitioning from a mattress and box spring to an adjustable base may require a new bed or at the least some modifications. Cris imparted her great depth of knowledge which became clearly actionable. What a blessing, someone to help us rest after this exhaustive search.
We highly recommend Cris Meeker, the knower of all in the mattress industry, and the doer of good for those looking to get some rest.
CRIS - CRIS - CRIS there’s no better that we’ve found!
