The BEST & Safest, EWG rating 1 sunscreen
I Recently purchased two 8.75 oz bottles of Blue Lizard Sensitive sunscreen for my family. We lived in Florida for years and now Texas. Two VERY hot and humid states. We were and are ALWAYS out in the sun doing the beaches, swimming, traveling and just playing outside. I recently came across Blue Lizard by doing extensive research on the web of the dangers of sunscreens (ingredients in them). And what I found was alarming. For years I'd been clueless just to how bad all the other larger national brand competitors had all the "wrong" ingredients in them yet they strongly advertise how awesome their products are for children and sheer protection for those that hate looking white. The research I conducted was eye opening for me. Coppertone, Neutrogena, Hawaiian Tropics just to name a few of the big ones found just about anywhere had some of the worst ratings on the EWG website, and that's what I and my family were using for many many years. I've recently made the switch to Blue Lizard after much research to what I believe is the Best and Safest sunscreen out on the market. The EWG rates this as a 1. I was sold from the get go when I looked into the EWG site and listed various sunscreens with the 1 rating (the best rating possible) along with awesome reviews to back it up. I than ordered two large bottles and tried it out on myself, husband, and 3 kids. Ages 10,8, and 5. They loved it! And I loved it! When first applied it looks shockingly white but have no fear because once you spread it in really well it does not leave you looking like a ghost. It lasted a long time. I'd say about 2 hours and than we had to reapply. We are in and out of water A LOT and sweating. I used the Sensitive Blue Lizard on all our faces and we did just fine. No break outs. It is predominantly zinc oxide which does leave a more sunscreen like feel on you b/c after all it is zinc but it's not sticky, and it's not bad at all! I also researched "reef safe sunscreens" and this popped up as well as Reef Safe. We will be going snorkeling in Turks and Caicos and were told to purchase reef safe sunscreen. Safe sunscreen + reef safe = no brainer! Sold! Sold! Sold! We are VERY happy to have made the switch to a healthy, non toxic, sunscreen for not just ourselves but our CHILDREN and we will be customers for life. After living in Florida with the highest rates of skin cancer I was worried but now I have this piece of mind knowing that I'm doing my best in trying to give my family a chance in not becoming a skin cancer statistic, and if it means spending more on one bottle of sunscreen than I can live with that. Thanks!!!!
