I have a BMW that I needed to remove the rear axles and as anyone knows, these can be really hard to remove. In my case, nearly impossible. They were seized so bad, that it broke my 15 ton gear puller. I ended up having heat the hub assembly up with a torch and beat the crap out of the nose of the axle until it finally came out. Well as expected, I damaged the axle and mushroomed the axle nose and damaged the axles. Not wanting to spend $700 per axle to replace, I decided to look up a thread repair die online and found a 27mm x 1.5mm from Drills and Cutters. After I ground down the mushroom part of the axle stub, I used the octagonal die with a 2" closed end wrench to turn the die. Worked Perfectly!! Saved my axles and a lot of money!!! Thanks again for coming to the rescue Drills and Cutters!!!

The bit worked well. I used it in an underpowered drill press to drill through 2 pieces of 1/2” steel and it did well. I used a lot of cutting oil.
