Router plate retrofit
I have an old PC 5182 Speedtronic router that is fitted into a nice router table. The variable speed router works great and is a beast of a machine, but because it's so old no one makes a lift that will fit it.
I settled on buying a Woodpecker Router Plate in it's undrilled (blank) form. I fitted the router's base onto the bottom of the plate and fitted it into the router table. The results were a fantastic match of an older router with a state of the art router plate.
The actual mating of the router to the plate was a bit finicky, only because I was trying to be very accurate, but the aluminum drilled and cut well (hint: use lots of cutting fluid) and the end combination is great.
The Woodpecker Router Plate is well constructed, accurately made and stiff as hell. No regrets!
