The Perfect Cooling Solution for our restored 1906 home
We live in New England and restored a 1906 craftsman style home, inside and out, that is located in our town's National Historic District. We heat with an ultra efficient hot water boiler feeding our 12 original cast iron radiators (no ductwork). We cooled until recently, with ultra quiet ceiling fans where appropriate. Several years ago we decided that the ceiling fans were just not working for us during those hot and humid summer months and that a/c was a must have. We experimented with the portable floor model because the window vent would not effect the outside appearance of our home. Just one thing, it did little to cool our room and it was noisy. That started our quest to find a low profile window mount a/s that could do the job and would not keep us up all night with noise. We found KAPSUL online, but the company was in their infancy, so we knew we were several years away from that option. We put our name on the KAPSUL notification list and moved on. After trying several more traditional brands of window units, we were cooler but the outside appearance, noise factor, and seasonal installation and un-installation was a hassle. We investigated the ductless split system a/c systems, but that was not an option for us, the interior air handler was too obtrusive for our likes. Fast forward to 2021 and we were notified that KAPSUL was available. We purchased 4 units online for each of the bedrooms. The delivery was timely, we were notified every step of their journey and they arrived early June,2021. They were extremely well packed and the instruction manual and online installation video helped us through the install and set-up process. They are relatively light weight compared to anything else we could find, the interior modern look and feel is welcoming amongst the 100+ year old interior finishes and the low profile is hardly noticeable on the outside. . . a huge improvement over anything else we tried. But as they say, "the proof is in the pudding".
The units are wi-fi ready, so we set them to work together similar to central a/c. They cool the entire second floor on demand, and off when desired temperature is reached. They are extremely quiet when staging up and down, which was important to us. Good job Kapsul.
