Sophisticated, reliable home automation sensors

I’ve been using various Ciao wireless tags around the house for various functions for over two years now: the tags have never given any problems and the software system robust. The temperature/movement tag is particularly useful as I use it to monitor & control the level of my swimming pool, using the x/y/z coordinate information that it generates. As well as pool level, I have 4 other tags which monitor various temperatures and sunlight received by my solar panels, and all data is sent using the built-in local URL-calling available in the WirelessTag app & website as inputs to an android server for complete control of my home. WirelessTag under-estimate what their tags can do: they focus on “logging and monitoring”, but the ability of integration into cheap server software (such as Automation Manager for IoT running on an old Android tablet) means they can go far beyond simple monitoring applications at a fraction of the price of other “smart home” systems.

Wireless tags integrate well with ISY

I wanted to add a more reliable door position sensor and some light level and temperature sensors to my system. These devices are working -out perfectly! I placed light sensor tags both inside and on my porch. With these I can set auto light scenes depending on the current light levels. I placed a tag in my freezer and discovered that it had always been running ~10 degrees too warm. Now I can monitor to prevent spoiled food...or worse. Finally, my wife sometimes spends too much time in the bathroom and the lights time out. :( I placed a tag on the shower curtain hook. If this happens, she can just rattle the shower curtain and lights are back on. My wife loves this tag. Finally, I didn't think that I would use it but the iOS app is great. With one glance, I know door positions and temperatures without opening my ISY portal. In summary, I love these things. I plan to add soil moisture sensors this spring and probably keychain tags for both my wife and I in case we misplace our keys.

Great product

Temperature monitoring of my freezer was finally possible with this product; there are not many on the market. Built quality is good.

These Tags have already saved me frozen pipes

I bought a couple tags and the base station and put a tag in a bedroom over our garage that is separately heated and also not used. It has a bathroom and pipes that could freeze. It is at least 100 feet from the station but the signal was good. The first week I had a tag there it notified me of a low temperature there because the pilot light had gone out. I had not had a problem with that heater so would not have checked and likely would have suffered damage. These tags are Wonderfull!

Good sensors for custom home automation solutions

I've used their products for a few years now and I like them enough to keep ordering more. They integrate well with IFTTT and allow me to build custom home automation solutions. I've used the sensors for a variety of things over the years: - To detect that the freezer was left open - The detect that the refrigerator was left open. - To turn on a light if motion is sensed while we are not at home. - To monitor for leaking plumbing anywhere in the house and shut off the entire house water supply. - To make sure humidity levels are high enough during the winter. - To detect problems with our boiler.
