CS+ Research, Installation, and Thoughts
After doing allot of research and thought we purchased a SpringWell CS+ system, we previously had a Lifesource unit that I installed 11 years ago. It was a difficult decision in some ways since we knew we had a good product with Lifesource but they were very expensive ~$3500 and the SpringWell system was ~$1600 BUT we could replace the carbon/filtration contents in 10 years or so whenever we started tasting the chlorine again and with the Lifesource we had to replace the entire unit (another ~$3500 every ~10 years). After installing the SpringWell it has become a no-brainer, so glad we went with SpringWell less than 1/2 the cost and in the future change the carbon/contents for ~$500 the cost of ownership gets even lower.
I installed the unit myself and am a very handy DIY'er, I initially used Sch 40 PVC and very much regret that I didnt use copper in the first place, all of us could taste the plastic / pvc glue (maybe psychological I dont know)? Next morning I went and got all copper fittings and adapters, set out to sweat all the copper fittings in place, installed a couple unions to make servicing down the road easier and in 1/2 a day I was finished AND the water tasted great/clean/pure! Wife tested the PH and it came back at 7.
We are very happy with our SpringWell system and so far (couple weeks) we couldnt be happier with the decision to buy SpringWell and will recommend to our neighbors.
With using copper, use allot of teflon tape around the copper to Manifold heads, be careful not to over-wrap since MPT (Male Pipe Thread) fittings can crack plastic FPT (Female Pipe Thread).
For best purity use copper (just my opinion) but if you are spending the $ to install one of these units, copper isnt going to degrade and breakdown like pvc. Could also use PEX, I just didnt have any 1 1/4" pex hose, crimps, and crimping tools.
Overall Very Happy!
