The model I have received

The model I have received is almost impossible to focus on a star in either manual or auto mode. The software is still somewhat buggy and some on screen information very difficult to read. One night I spent 45 minutes trying unsuccessfully to focus on a star. On writing to complain I received a letter that was suited more for a ten year old rather than for someone who owns and uses some 5 sophisticated telescopes. So I have 500 pound telescope that cannot be focused so a total waste. Very disappointing.

I purchased the Dwarf II

I purchased the Dwarf II end of last year and got it delivered in April. As I live in the northern area, the nights are getting shorter by end of April during summer, so I did not have many chances to test the Dwarf II. However, I was able to do some sessions and noticed the following - for me - flaws which make the Dwarf II nearly useless: 1. The auto-focus in astro-mode does not really work. I never got a star in focus using this method and the manual focus is a nightmare using the tine iPhone with a touch-screen +/- button. 2. The app is not very stable. Often it “forgets” settings and does not respond anymore. After a hard-reset (switching off and on), it came back to work but everything that was done until that point is not available for that session Points #3 and #4 - for me - are the biggest issues with the Dwarf II: 3. In day-mode I cannot use TIF or any othe raw format for shooting. Only JPG is supported which is unfortunately not a good quality to work further with the images. 4. In astro-mode the app shows me a binning of 2x2 but that cannot be changed to 1x1. Therefore the resolution is at 1920x1080 pixel which isn’t good enough for galaxies or even nebula. I was told that Dwarflab works on a better app. I need to wait for that - and for longer nights in the northern hemisphere - and hope that at least #3 and #4 are fixed. If not, I will try to resell the item.
