The Door is a high quality built door and was relatively easy to install. One of the issues I had with the door was the threaded key ring. When you go to open the door the key unscrews itself. If you try to over tighten the screw to stop this from happening, you have a negative effect on the locking mechanism that took quite some time to repair. Luckily I was able to repair it. If the threading were backwards, when you go to open the door you would be tightening the threaded key ring and the locking mechanism in operation would prevent you from over tightening it. I ended up applying epoxy to the threads of mine to rectify the problem, but I will never be able to remove the key ring. The second issue I have is that I assumed the insulated door would have included weather stripping. I used the access door to my attic space, and wanted to keep the unconditioned air from that space coming into the conditioned space. I am a former Home Builder who now works for the 3rd largest Builder in the Western New York area. I am in charge of the Estimating Department and I am always researching new products and processes to recommend for implementation. I will try out a product in my own home before I recommend it becoming a standard in all of our homes. With energy codes and fire codes at the top of the Governments agenda, I am searching for a product that would be economical, practical, and an improvement over current methods. This door is ALMOST a solution. In every new home built there is a need for at least one of these doors, and many need as many as three of these doors. I will be purchasing another one of these in a larger size (most likely a 22" x 32") to review the installation and operation of that size door, especially as it pertains to the location possibilities of its installation
