Tough Sell...

Laguna Cellar dropped the ball somewhere when they charged 2 dollars per bottle extra. It’s not about the 2 dollars per se, but it’s about the expectations in business relationship. Sure, tariffs were mentioned by retailers, but I haven’t seen anything mentioned while placing my pre-arrival order about future fuel surcharge that one might have to pay depending on oil prices. The reasoning given by Laguna Cellar is that “fuel prices have increased.” It’s a tough sell for me. First of all, the gas prices skyrocketed due to instability in Europe in March, and by that time, the container has already arrived. So the reasoning of war situation is not convincing and there could be other reason why Laguna Cellar had to pay extra for the shipment. Secondly, I have been buying Bordeaux en Premier for nearly two decades, and this is the first time I have experienced or even heard about such fuel surcharge. I remember fuel prices per barrel higher than the current increase, and I haven’t experienced this fuel surcharge from other retailers at that time. The email informing me of this extra charge seems to be callously written by someone who is not bright. The email gives the option of paying 2 dollars extra per bottle or cancel the order to get the refund. Wow!! From customers perspective, it sounded like “pay up or Laguna Cellar can sell the wine for someone else for higher price...” I have been buying Bordeaux from 4 or 5 national retailers for many years. This is the first time I tried Laguna Cellar as I wanted to just give it a try first as Laguna Cellar is closer to home. None of the other retailers with whom I have 2019 futures orders have charged any extra fuel surcharge so far. I will reserve my final judgement about Laguna Cellar until I have all my 2019s shipped from other retailers, but to say the least, I am not happy with my experience with Laguna Cellar. In fact, few days back I placed a futures order with other west coast retailer as I am not sure about Laguna Cellar surcharge policies...

Crap wine not worth it

Flat wine with no body..... not even decanters and breathing helped this wine... feel like I got ripped off... I’ve had better $4 bottles of box wine. This is definitely not worth the price. Go buy 19 crimes instead... cheaper and better! This was a waste of a glass bottle. In case you’re wondering if I’m just goin on a rant... 30 years restaurant experience judged this wine... I wouldn’t sell it at my restaurant. Why pay $100 plus buck shipping for it when you can drive to a store and spend $20 buck on a better wine. One bottle was corked as well.... so there’s that $ down the drain...🙄
