Donostia Foods

After a lovely vacation in northern Spain, having a Gilda and a beer seemed like a great way to enjoy on of our all time favorite snacks. Pintxos with olives, anchovy, and peppers from Donostia are delicious and add the authenticity to bring back the memory!

Best tasting canned sardines I have eaten so far. Not overly salty or oily. Intact large sardines packed tightly. The other canned sardines that I have tried: Wild Planet Sardines in Water No Salt (were out of stock everywhere; occasional cans with milky liquid; some with broken sardines; some with a slightly fishier smell); and Mouettes d'Arvor Au Citron et l'Huile d'Olives (very good; well packed intact sardines; a little too much oil for my taste but very good flavor; much better quality of sardines than Wild Planet; not as salty as Donostia's Sardines in Spicy Sauce; I found the sardines slightly dryer than Donostia's; the French brand was also pricier. Donostia canned sardines also shipped fairly quickly and arrived in perfect condition. No dented cans. Donostia packs its cans with sardines from Spain, one of the better countries for sardines.
