I needed a new interface

I needed a new interface that works on a PC and was looking at the new apollo X series. My Focusrite Forte is no longer supported on Windows 10 so I discided to go with the REM Babyface Pro. I wanted an interface with rock solid performance using a PC and no compromize sound quality whilst being portable and with long term driver support. I hit the mark with the Babyface pro fs, this is excellence in a portable and expandable package , thanks to REM and also to Zen Pro Audio for great customer care. Fully satisfied.

After researching and watching upteen'

After researching and watching upteen' youtube video reviews and comparisons with Apollo, Apogee, Universal Audio; I settled on the RME Babyface Pro FS and glad I did. It turns out to be exactly what I wanted and needed. Initially there was some confusion with what the actual mic gain is on the Babyface. Whether it is +76 or +65db, however whichever it is, it is plenty, especially since there is practically no noise across the whole gain range. I wanted an interface that had great mic pre's where I did not need to use a cloudlifter, had midi in and out(I'm old school), adat capability for expansion, standalone operation and class compliant, and the Babyface is the only interface in this price range that covered that with some of the best specs' for latency and stable drivers. To get something that would out do the Babyface would start costing in the range of $2400 or more. I was real close to getting the Apogee Quartet, but being $500 more and it not be able to work standalone, nor have a reputation of drivers as stable as the Babyface, my choice became easy. I often use an old Tascam 688 and using the Babyface standalone as mic pre's with it is great. Lastly, I read a lot of complaints about shortcomings of the Babyface, however I have found great ways to accomplish everything I want. Some complain that there is no on off switch and although I understand RME's reason for not adding one, I found a great USB cable extension that does not degrade data or power that has an on and off switch, so now my Babyface has an on and off switch. Some complain about the Babyface not being able to charge a device like an ipad in class compliant mode. Well, I simply got a lightning adapter that splits to connect data and power and now I can charge and use the Babyface at the same time with no loss of sound quality. I'm very happy with the Babyface, the build quality is impressive. If the things I have mentioned are what you need or are looking for, then get it, I don't think you will be disappointed! I feel like I am endorsing this as if I were paid or something, but I have not been. I just think this is a great piece of machinery. Big thanks to ZenPro also. The customer service was great for this purchase and shipping was fast and painless. Oh, and thanks for the coffee beans!
