So here’s the low down…I first purchased a pair of standard HS-8 speakers and I enjoyed them however after reading up on all of the forums about the improvements from the modification, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much better the mod version would be. I wasn’t unsatisfied with the originals but I finally bit the bullet and purchased the modded version. Don’t underestimate the power of Warren’s description. Transients punch way better and more true to the source so understanding what needs to be compressed is an easier task. I use a sub so I can’t speak on the low end extension but the stereo width is also improved. The sound literally sounds like you are in the mix. I will also mention my room is extremely treated with thousands of dollars spent on Bass traps, reflection point panels, and even tuned traps. With all that said, the speaker upgrade is a very worthwhile upgrade. The amount of value you get with the modded version over the stock is way more than the few hundred dollar difference it takes to purchase the modded. Just do it and don’t buy a better pair until you have like 5-8 grand for that next tier of speaker. P.S. Warren is the man! He is attentive to communication and the speed I received my product was extremely efficient.
