As a former iPhone user I decided that $1,000 for a phone (all be it a computer too) was way over the top. Research suggested that a Samsung A30 would suit. Tobydealsau.com was the cheapest price and it came quite quickly from HK. The phone is nice and it is what I expected it to be at 1/5 the cost of a new iPhone.
