Hands down my favorite G-Shock!
Hands down my favorite G-Shock! I have been wearing it daily ever since it came in.
I had just acquired a GWG-B1000 thinking that the 3rd gen Mudmaster would be my "exit" watch. But for some reason I kept wanting to get this Yellow Rangeman, especially since fitness is so important to me. And I got to tell you, I am so glad I finally got one.
Most Gshocks I own REQUIRE Bluetooth connectivity to access additional features, track routes and other cool stuff. But main issue with that, is has to utilize your phone's gps. So if your phone dies or you happen to not bring it with you on a hike, you can't record anything.
This has its own dedicated gps receiver which completely eliminates that problem. Which is super helpful in treks where there is no cell service or reception. It's a beast loaded to the gills with features.
Pros: If you love GShock and being able to track steps, see almanac data (sun/moon), utilize on board sensors like ABC, vibration notifications, see VO2max and heart rate data, and a 5 second light that can be set to illuminate with each button press (and much, much more), this is it.
Cons: 1) Because it is mud resist, there can be "phantom" presses, in which nothing happens when you press a button. You got to press hard and deep sometimes to activate the button. 2) Like other MIP G's, do not expect FAST operation or quick presses. 3) LED. Though the light works, they are situated to the side as oppose to the back, which can create bleed on the screen. 4) If your wrist FAR exceeds 8 inchs, it may not sit right. The wings and the bands are not meant to splay out fully (think like GD350 which can be laid flat).
Just somethings to be aware of, is all.
Other than that, this watch is fantastic. It is perfect for me. And having sported a GBD100 as my primary G the last two years, this is definitely an awesome replacement.
