Zhumell Long-Barrel 8X42 - quality control may be an issue
I needed a quick, temporary replacement for my Zhumell Short-Barrel Water-proof 8X40 binoculars. The shorties needed a repair (which went very quickly and was free since the binoculars were under the 25-year warranty). Unfortunately, the long-barrel ones were not as good in quality. The viewing field was not as flat as the short-barreled ones and they were slightly out of alignment right out of the box. They're barely usable and I essentially had to look through only one eye to prevent getting a headache. Since I need binoculars for my job, I will send back the long-barreled ones and not keep them as a back-up. I think there's a reason the long-barrels were on sale ($50.00 as opposed to the $140 for the short-barrel version) - the quality control at the factory may have slipped.
