Pedal Genie is a fantastic service. And now that they have the tiered subscription options it seems even better. (When I started the Flex option wasn't yet a thing) The pedal selection is fantastic and is getting better all the time. It's a great tool when you are on a limited budget and have an extreme case of pedal GAS. Because of Pedal Genie I've bought a couple pedals that I probably wouldn't have without being able to try them first and also saved a bunch of money by not buying a bunch of pedals I was sure I would love and ended up being unimpressed by. Be careful though, when you find that one pedal you truly love it becomes really hard to send it back and get the next one, which is what happened to me. A lot.

In the five or six months that I used Pedal Genie, I was able to try 13 different effects pedals that I could never get my hands on at the local shops. Mostly delays, some drives, but they always sent the pedals to me as quickly as possible. Everything from Strymon, ORIGINAL Devi Ever, Brand new pedals, out of production pedals, you name it, they had it and would ship it to my front door. I would enjoy some at home, some would even make it onto my board at gigs. I found a lot of pedals that helped me decide what I ended up needing on my board forever. If I had searched and paid for each of the pedals I was able to try, I would have spent thousands. In the end, I spent a fraction being able to figure out exactly what I needed and then was actually able to buy those pedals at a discounted price from Pedal Genie. They didnt pay me to tell you this either. The ONLY reason I cancelled my subscription is because I fell on hard times, had to sell a bunch of my own personal gear and had to start counting every penny. Soon I will be back in a stable financial spot and the first thing I'm getting back is my Pedal Genie subscription. The customer service is second to none. They are a company of real people who will communicate with you like a real person and they will help you in any way they can. They wont scam you or claim you broke a pedal that you sent back and they will also never send you a pedal that is broken. Solid work by solid people providing the service that you know you want. Its like netflix for effects pedals and it's awesome.

I ma a big proponent of Pedal Genie. However, It took almost a year to get to try the first pedal on my list. Unacceptable. A list of 10 pedals is too long. Five is adequate.

I wanted to freshen up my tone, and I knew I would never be able to truly evaluate pedals by visiting my local music store. There’s been an explosion of boutique pedals in recent years, and many retailers don't carry them as well, making evaluations difficult. I also didn't want to have to rely on YouTube testimonials. I wanted to evaluate pedals with my gear, along with all the other pedals in my chain. I spend several months, playing thru overdrive pedals and the results were surprising. After a few weeks using each pedal, it was obvious some played better with my other effects or sometimes they didn’t match the tone I was trying to achieve. It was a tough choice, but I was able to find the pedal I wanted. Thanks Pedal Genie.
