Changed the way I cook!
I love to cook and love my toys too. For many years I've used all sorts of temp probes for cooking. My goal was to find a prob that was easy to use and actually worked!
Many were a hassle to use. A standard probe you constantly had to monitor. I progressed to the wired probes. But many were such a pain to use. Syncing was an issue with many. And then I found one that was actually nice for it would sync and I could monitor the temp remotely.
However a couple months ago I saw the Meater. As I mentioned I like toys and this sounded pretty cool! So when I first received it I was curious to see if it worked and if it was convenient to use. And it was!
But then came the transformation on how I cook, a light bulb went off above my head....for I've always cooked so I could monitor the "end" temperature. I hate overcooked food and I do like my steaks done at a specific temp of rare.
But the Meater doesn't only monitor the end temp, it monitors the how its cooking! The graph function has completely changed how I cook. For you can see the rate of the temp as the food cooks. How many times have you tried to cook a steak or chicken to perfection, take it off the heat to rest only to have it rise beyond what you desired?
I used to always play around with finding the correct temp to take the meat off the heat so it would reach my desired end temp. But with Meater’s graphing ability I no longer have to guess!! I start the sear and you can see on the graph the steep temperature rise. Then after a perfect sear I can reduce the heat or temporarily take it off the heat. The steep temp rise decrease and gradually flattens to a slow temperature rise. So now it gradually reaches my desired temp. When I rest my meat I don’t have a huge overshoot! No more guessing when the best time to take my steak off to rest.….Now my food is always cooked exactly the way I like!!!
And of equal importance to all this is the customer service. For I don’t care how well something works, if it has poor customer service I won’t buy it. But the people at Meater are great! They truly want you to have an elevated cooking experience!
