I bought the basic model on the basis that the effective area was the same for all machines (the pro has a pass through slot which I didn’t feel was needed by me) It’s enabled me to move my business to a new level and paid the machine off several times over in a very short time frame.

As a professional visual artist, I use parts made with my GF in my sculpture. This laser has been critical in enabling me to design and build an whole new body of work as I prepare for a solo museum exhibition. The interface (GFI) has worked perfectly and so far, with the exception of the compact filter, I have had no issues. My interactions with customer service have been very good. I will not post my sculpture here, but here is another project I worked on for a wedding gift.

We were looking for a portable laser cutter that would be easy to setup and maintain. This appears to be the one. We placed it on a rolling cart for transport between classrooms and it's popularity is growing. We are not experts by any stretch of the imagination yet, but we will be, because it is too much fun.

I was one of the original crowd source supporters. But due to longer than expected delivery times discouraged my plans and I withdrew my funds. Three years later after comparing many other laser cutting designs, I found my self still without a laser. After all that time the GlowForge design concept kept re-emerging as a front runner. I finally purchased a GF pro and am happy to have done it. The machine and the supporting infrastructure are well conceived and implemented. Machine performance has been as expected thus far. I would recommend this product to anyone hoping to enter into this application space.

Right out of the box I was able to make quick use of the Glowforge. Since I got the machine, I have non-stop thoughts of what I want to create next. Several items I have made have been well-received and I was selling items before I knew it. Many of my customers have already become repeat customers and my customer base has expanded from there. I most enjoy the time I get to use the machine as an outlet for my personal designs. I could not be happier with my Glowforge Basic!
