Upgraded to UE Live for the CSX version
Short Summary:
What are you waiting for? These spoils the experience for all other earpiece, I can no longer listen on anything else. Outstanding customer service!
Its 5 stars for the IEM, but the bluetooth headsets presents a very noisy static background when connected, not something you'd expect from a $100 cable. A slight disappointment but wires are the way to go anyways. I also recommend picking up a DAC (e.g. HIDIZS Sonata) for use both on your Android phone.
Long Review:
What I chose:
I was tempted into buying my first Custom IEM by my friend. Initially, I had a hard time deciding on which would be my choice but my friend eventually convinced me with "You'll be yearning for more in the future, so why not just be satisfied with the best right from the start?" With that, I decided on the UE Live. UE Live is only featured in the UE Pro website. UE unrivaled customer service however, offered to make the CSX version after a short email exchange and all I had to do was to pay the difference. If you are able to access a sample of their product, try it out and pick one with a sound signature that you would prefer at your price point.. You can also be rest assured that any questions your have will be answered to the best of their ability. Outstanding customer support.
Fit:
The key difference between CSX and Pro is the ease of fitting it into the ear and the fitting process. CSX goes to the first bend of your ear while the Pros goes into the second. To custom fit them to your ears, CSX uses the fit kit, more info here: https://custom.ultimateears.com/pages/fit-kit , which can be done at the comfort of your home with help from a friend whereas the Pros would require you to go to the audiologist for a ear imprint which ranges from $30-$50 from where I was. I have taken them (CSX) for runs and they stay snugly in my ears with no doubts of them falling out so the CSX is more than enough for daily listening.
As mine were the CSX the UE fit kit arrived within a few days. Eventually, UE found out that my ears were too small as I could not get a proper fitment using the fit kit, even after they had sent me a separate XS size fit kit. UE recommended that I went to the audiologist to get an imprint done (Learn from my mistake: find a competent audiologist to follow UE's instructions if you go through this path).
Audio quality:
I start to hear instruments I never knew existed in the song. The experience is mind blowing and there's no turning back. Looking forward to use it on my next long haul flight.
