Thorlo and me when women stepped into fitness
Back in the 1980"s fitness was king! Aerobics, Jane Fonda and Richard Simmons home videos, and memberships to health clubs flooded the market as women's place in that world exploded. Following my husband's lead, I entered that world as a state chair of the American Federation of Women's Bodybuilding later to become their National Promotion Director. At that time, I also became the director of the Killington Vermont Mountain Health Club in 1984 and that's when I was introduced to Thorlo socks. Function with fashion was the key element in projecting the fitness image. We stocked our pro shop, suited up our staff members and sang the praises of these footwear elites. Little did I know then that 40 plus years and several health clubs later, my very same pairs of Thorlos would be on my feet and serving me today. My high top leg warmer editions may be out of fashion, but cold Vermont winters still require their function for sure. Yesterday, I reached for my trusty crews to find a hole in the heel. Wow! It's been a long run and I do know how to old school,"darn" a sock but I was struck by the thought of product longevity. . . a rare trait among items now purposely designed for planned obsolescence. Thorlo, you've proved your worth many years over and walked many miles in my own life chapters. Thank you for making a product that lasts a lifetime and has delivered so much comfort along the way.
