It’s the Gulf of Mexico to me always. Thanks @jungmaven for making the perfect shirt that says it all. My father’s ashes are scattered in the Gulf of Mexico. My grandparents had their first dates at Gaido’s in Galveston, Texas. I learned to surf in the Gulf of Mexico. Many family shrimp boils were provided for thanks to the Gulf of Mexico. (Sorry, soapbox… This administration is trying to take a lot from us: individuality, safety, and freedoms. This thinly veiled nationalism is a distraction. There is no reason to change the Gulf’s name. The idea to change the name to “Gulf of America” feels personal and obtuse. )
