Our 3rd Tula enabling worldwide hiking adventures

This is our 3rd Tula. We started with the Explore which is still fantastic, but at 18m old we had a second baby so got the toddler Tula. Now that our second is 18m we got a third, this PreSchool size and it’s lovely and big, meaning our slim 3 year old can fit easily. Honestly, our 18m can use it too if needed, but not our first choice! I worried it would be ludicrously big, but he has long legs. We need the option for extra space so when they have loads of layers on they still fit (not the case in the explore anymore), as we do hiking and have lived in all climates. They are so good at fitting different bodies easily and quickly. We swap between me, my husband, thick winter clothes, swim kit, a nanny, we are all drastically different builds but the straps and settings are just brilliant. We use them around the world (Europe, North America, Africa, Latin America) instead of a buggy and prefer back carry unless it’s a really short distance and more of a cuddle situation, then we would use front carry. I had so much indecision about whether to get the mesh version, but we chose the normal one and it’s not been too hot so far. We completely stopped using the Osprey backpack which hurt our hips, back and neck so much, despite adjusting all the settings 😔 and just use Tulas with a BundleBean fleece lined rain cover if it’s wet. Or snowsuits if it’s cold. Hiking boots with laces stay on their feet better than wellies that fall off when hiking. I wear two Tulas often, one of front and one on back, whichever design, they all fit. It’s hard to know before buying it if that’s even possible because it’s not something I see, but luckily I saw in someone’s review they did it and gave it a go. When my husband is at work, I have two toddlers to help on their hikes and we do things where buggies are not possible and they love going up, down, up, down, so it’s nice to have the soft Tulas. Hop on and off is really quick. They both nap in them all the time. Saves carbon if we want to go out at naptime and not use the car seat! Bucket hats stay on better than flat peak baseball hats when in a Tula on the back (obviously! But try to help you avoid our mistakes). After 3 years the buckle on our Explore broke so I ordered a replacement buckle in this order and it worked a treat! Brand new and perfect. I think it snapped because I shut the car door on the buckle. I put the Tulas in the washing machine whenever they are looking muddy/dusty then hang them to dry (the nicely padded shoulder take a while to dry to pick a sunny day) and they all still look excellent. The colours remain bright. It says not to wash them too frequently, so I don’t wash them weekly, but maybe every other month. They get used everyday and baby girl chews on it and when she was a little one she threw up all the time so it was important to be able to machine wash and keep it all clean. I’m a bit of a clean freak! I can’t comment on the service as we’ve never had any issues or complaints but the website images are excellent.
