Manage your expectations
The marketing around Little Ones lulls you into believing that this app will have all the answers. For me it didn’t but It doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend the programme (with caveats).
The schedules are great - really great. Once you get into the swing of them, the reassurance that you child is getting enough (but not too much) daytime sleep at the right times gives you the confidence to put them down at night and know you’ve done all the right things so you can reasonably expect them to sleep through the night at the right age. I also like the troubleshooting pages which helped when things don’t go to plan.
On the downside, the self-settling methods are, in my experience, utterly unhelpful. 3 of my friends who have the app have also had the same experience. The methods lead to our babies becoming increasingly distressed. My baby cried for 2.5 hours the first night and 3 hours the night after. After that ordeal, I decided I may as well opt for the cry-it-out method which the programme promised I would be able to avoid.
The support from the village is also a bit hit and miss. Little Ones justifies this by saying This part of their service is “complementary”. Either it’s part of the service or it’s not and so far as I’m concerned, I paid for a package with support so it should be of a good standard. Response times are slow and so not helpful when you have an urgent query. On top of this, the app regularly sends out messages suggesting you read the guides rather than ask questions which I found condescending - if I were able to find the answer in the guides, I wouldn’t be asking the question! When the answers come they often don’t directly address the question and can also seem condescending.
So for me, Little Ones has good and bad points and I think the marketing is misleading
