The best thing I have bought in my entire life
I always counted myself lucky to have a baby that seemed reasonably willing to sleep for long durations from quite an early age. As a new mum, I followed all advice available to me - to hold my baby as much as possible (which I LOVED and would do again!) However, 3 months turned into 4 and 4 into 5 and by 6 months I had a baby that would only be breastfed to sleep. I would always have to wait at least 20 minutes before attempting to put him down (which was always a gamble) and I could never put him down myself as the action of getting up would wake him. Therefore, he only went down when my husband was home in the night. Also, he would not go to sleep until about 2am every day and he would only go in the Moses basket which he had outgrown. By 6 months, he had started waking more often through the night and was so unsettled in the cot I was fighting to get him in - I was sleeping with my arm twisted through the cot bars every night - I'd had enough!
I had seen advertisements for Little Ones on facebook and I finally decided to give it a go. I started with implementing the naps, feeding him to sleep and keeping him asleep by tapping him for the whole scheduled naps and at nights getting my husband to put him down in his basket. That very night he went to sleep at 7pm and I used my babymonitor for the first time ever in his life! He only woke 3 times (2 of those were before he'd normally have gone to bed!). The second night he slept right through and this continued! I then started to implement the solid food aspect.and then got him in his cot. It was no problem! At this point, it was still taking an hour to get him down at night as I was feeding to sleep before my husband was transferring him into the cot, so I geared myself up for teaching him to self-settle. I was dreading it. I decided to bite the bullet and do the quick method. He cried (not continuously) for just over half an hour, then he went to sleep! From that night on, he didn't cry. I then tackled the day naps and for the first time I was able to put him down for a daytime nap!
I feel as though this programme has changed our lives. The cost is low anyway, but what would I have paid for a comprehensive guide, a sleep workshop ( I now feel like a sleep guru!), immediate contact with thousands of parents, personal advice from sleep consultants at all hours, a babysitter from 7pm every night, rested parents and a happy baby? It is surely priceless. It is the best thing I have bought in my entire life. I have recommended it to all of my friends.
The programme has given me the confidence to trust in my baby's ability to sleep. It allowed me to make sure that he ensure that he is not hungry, over/undertired or uncomfortable which has allowed him to learn very quickly how to go off to sleep with no fuss. I cannot recommend it enough!
